Subtle and complex with dark cherry, raspberry and hints of anise and cinnamon.

We’ve been searching for some good Grenache fruit for a long time, so when the opportunity arose last year to get a small allocation from a beautiful organic vineyard in the Pyrenees we jumped at it.

These vines are relatively low-yielding (being an organically grown vineyard that’s very well cared for), and in 2022 this resulted in fruit with great flavour with relatively low sugar and high natural acidity. For a minute there it even looked like the fruit might not get ripe enough during the growing season, but in the end we were very happy to pick the fruit based on flavour and work with it to make a beautifully elegant Grenache with low(ish) alcohol.

The wine has beautiful lifted floral and red berry aromas with a hint of cinnamon spice on the nose, and it carries through onto the palate with a tart raspberry flavour and great length enhanced by velvety tannins.

It’s a versatile wine that could work equally as well as an aperitif in the sun or as a dinner wine perfectly matched with autumn meals.
